Estes Set to Reopen Former Yellow Terminals, Triggers Demand for 3PLs

Estes, a less-than-truckload carrier, has initiated a national expansion by acquiring terminals from Yellow Corp., which recently went defunct. They acquired 24 service centers and five leased properties for a total of $284 million. Estes has already opened terminals in South Carolina, Nevada, and New Jersey, with plans to open at least 20 terminals by the end of the year. They aim to enhance their network by adding locations in various regions, including Washington, California, Detroit, and Texas, totaling 985 doors. Estes has also acquired tractors, trailers, and other equipment from Yellow’s former locations. This expansion represents the largest addition of terminals and equipment in Estes’ recent history. Other carriers like XPO and Saia have also reopened former Yellow terminals as part of their own expansions. Estes aims to swiftly integrate these terminals to better serve their customers.
