Contecon Manzanillo S.A. (CMSA), an operating unit of International Container Terminal Services, Inc. (ICTSI) at the Specialized Container Terminal 2 in the port of Manzanillo, achieved a significant milestone by handling 14,400 TEUs during the recent visit of the CMA CGM vessel APL Vanda.
José Antonio Contreras, CEO of CMSA, described the operation on the APL Vanda, which handled over 14,400 TEUs, as a historic achievement for Contecon Manzanillo and the Mexican port community. It underscores their ability to handle large volumes per vessel call and their commitment to supporting the development and growth of Mexico in collaboration with their customers.
The arrival of APL Vanda, a part of CMA CGM’s Asia Central South America service, is noteworthy as it’s the second time a 400-meter long vessel has reached this Mexican port, with APL Vanda being the largest ship to call at the port, boasting a capacity of 17,292 TEUs.
